Here at Harvest Bible Chapel we believe life’s greatest satisfaction is found in a relationship with God through Jesus Christ and that He liberates us from our sin and corresponding guilt. We are committed, therefore, to laying out the biblical picture of this glorious God and modeling our lives and love after Jesus. So convinced of Christ’s power to transform our broken lives, we want others to experience this with us.
Personality
In coming to Harvest you would find people who are thirsty for God, who seek to know Him through careful study of the Word of God by the illuminating power of the Holy Spirit. You will see people who are filled with worship in their hearts and desirous to express it to God in song. You will see a happy marriage between freedom in worship and rigorous Bible study. You will find people who are seeking to grow in likeness to Jesus and who also want to see the community around them redeemed by Jesus.
Mission
We believe that God has positioned us in Rockford to see His kingdom advanced in this city before He returns to take us home. Until then, we want to be about spreading a passion for the supremacy of God and liberating a generation with the life and love of Jesus Christ. As you can probably guess, this is our mission statement. We want others to see the supreme value of God so that they too would lay aside (be liberated from) all other pursuits in life to follow God’s Son, Jesus.
History
Harvest Bible Chapel in Rockford was launched in March of 2003 after months of prayer and preparation by approximately 25 men and women committed to planting a new church in this city. Harvest is part of a larger fellowship of churches stemming from the original Harvest Bible Chapel of Rolling Meadows. As of October 2007, we moved from meeting in a local High School to purchasing our own building and property located on 5501 Windsor Road in Loves Park, a suburb of Rockford.
